Don is constantly working on effective differentiated teaching ideas to help student learning in his classroom. Relationship building is key for Don as is using variety in his teaching methods. Activities, discussion, student involvement, group work all make it less threatening for students. "Absenteeism is/was an issue….there has been an improvement." Now students are not shy to call let Don know if they are going to be away from class. Students comment on their enjoyment of the variety.

Making his students feel comfortable so they will talk with him and discuss ideas in the classroom, “make me earn my living” he tells students. He tries many things,”sometimes they work sometimes they don’t,” he says.
