This component will develop over 2010 as further resources commissioned by the TEC and developed by the National Centre become available. The aim of this component is to provide educators with resources to improve their own knowledge, and to provide them with materials that will support their practice. At present, it includes support in the area of professional reading by linking to the New Zealand Literacy Portal. In the area of practice, there is the educator support material for using each of the three Reading Collections with learners and a link to the money management education package developed by the Retirement Commission.
Reading collections
The Reading Collections are part of a suite of linked materials developed for the TEC to support adult literacy learning. The
materials include books for learners, audio versions of the books and learners’ guides. The learners’ guides include a number of activities to support the learner strengthen their reading skills as they read the articles within the
